This document outlines the parking policy relating to Central Office. The Department of Education and Training (the Department) is one of the few government agencies that provides secured parking for staff and visitors. Parking facilities provided by the Department to staff are considered to be a privilege and not an entitlement. This revised policy is effective 8 September 2008.

All staff have a vital role to play in creating a safe and protective school environment through the identification and support of children affected by abuse. This policy assists staff to respond appropriately where there is a concern for a child’s wellbeing or a disclosure of abuse. The best interests of the child will be met through an understanding of the processes and requirements for reporting child abuse to agencies who share this responsibility. 11.11.09 version 2.3 published with addition of section 6.18 regarding Working With Children Checks policy.

A Community Kindergarten Registration Advisory Panel is a small group of people appointed to review a decision of the Minister about the registration of a community kindergarten.
- Community Kindergartens

The management of community kindergartens is shared between members of the parent community, via the Parent Management Committee, and officers of the Department of Education and Training. Teachers in community kindergartens work closely with the Parent Management Committee. - Community Service Program

The Department of Education and Training (DET) recognises the value and educational benefits of programs that enable students to connect with and contribute to the community. In 2007 the Community Service Program was implemented in all public schools. The Community Service Program gives students opportunities to contribute to their school and/or wider community as part of their school program. As part of this program, students contribute a minimum of 20 hours service to the community, typically during Years 10 and 11. Completion of the 20 hours service is required to achieve the WA Certificate of Education at the end of Year 12. 11.11.09 version 1.1 published with addition of procedural information regarding Working With Children Checks policy.

It is Government policy that school facilities and resources are made available for use by the community.
