Legislative and HR Policy Responsibilities

This policy has been amended to reflect procedural changes to the Equal Opportunity Commission. In 2000, the School Education Act 1999 (SE Act) replaced The Education Act 1928. The new legislation saw the SE Act bring the management of all staff in the Department into line with the provisions of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 (PSM Act) and thereby the wider public sector.

Local selection describes a recruitment, selection and appointment process undertaken at a school. Local selection of teaching staff has been in place for some schools since 1997, although all schools recruit, select and appoint support staff.
