Management of Annual and Long Service Leave

The Department is responsible for monitoring annual and long service leave to reduce its leave liability and ensure leave credits do not accumulate beyond acceptable levels. Employees in Central and District Offices will take their annual and long service leave on a regular basis to prevent the accumulation of leave.

Management of Asbestos Containing Materials in Schools and Other Workplaces

The Department's Asbestos Management Plan reflects the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (1984) and Regulations (1996), as well as the associated Codes of Practice. The purpose of the Plan is to ensure the appropriate management of any asbestos containing material in schools so as to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for students and staff.

Management of Avoidable Sick Leave

Avoidable sick leave is sick leave that is not caused by external factors such as viral epidemics, illness and non work related accidents. It includes absences arising from work-related stress, failure of occupational health and safety systems, poor working relationships and poor staff management.
